WAP

WAP (Wireless Application Protocol) has a very close relationship with the Internet, where the Internet is the basis of the formation of this protocol. Internet comes from the interconnection network which has the meaning of communication from various computers that form a network system that covers the entire known world or global networks. Internet is having a relationship with a variety of telecommunications channels such as telephone line, wireless and others. Mobile Internet or mobile Internet is the result of technological convergence of fixed-mobile Internet and telephone technologies. This goes hand in hand with technological advances in data transfer over wireless networks
WAP (Wireless Application Protocol) is a communications protocol standard that enables mobile Internet access and are mobile. WAP is a technology agreement result some telecommunications experts and vendors from several companies belonging to the WAP Forum (www.wapforum.com) including infrastructure companies such as Ericsson, Nokia, Motorola, and Phone.com while wireless operators such as Vodafone, Sonera and AT & T. WAP forum has united the forums from industry into the OMA (Open Mobile Alliance) in which to include the development of data services via Wireless.
WAP forum to date has issued several versions of WAP 1.0 was launched in April 1998, WAP 1.1 was released in May 1999, WAP 1.2, WAP 1.2.1 Games launched in June 2000 and WAP 2.0 was launched in mid-2001. WAP 1.2.1 WAP is a display screen using the language WML (Wireless Markup Language), whereas WAP WAP 2.0 is the display screen using the language of XML and XHTML (Extensible Hypertext Markup Language) WAP Architecture

Images of architecture from the developed with the horizontal nature that has transparency in its development. Consists of 3 main layers, namely:
Application Layer, the layer where applications and mobile communication services can be developed and accessed by all the existing wireless network
Layer Control, the layer that handles aspects of intelligent wireless networks, such as the dial setting, tracking mobiles, billing information management, etc..
Transport Layer, the layer that handles data transfer process that occurs where such routing, coding, and switching to ensure data transmission purposes.
new architecture This is the sense wireless networks are no longer distinguished by differences in systems and technologies (such as GSM, CDMA, etc..) but became divided on the basis of the functional logic of identity. The third layer on top is operated on the open interface (called the Application Programming Interfaces - API). Availability of open API that makes third-party developers do not have to again think of telecommunication protocol that will connect the application to be built, but they can concentrate more on quality, production, and distribution of the applications they build. WAP has three main sections in the architecture, namely:

Mobile Client user's mobile device (client) is a wireless device that has a micro browser applications to function just like Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox on a PC (Personal Computer). Micro browser, also called user agents which function to call an object (information) from the server and then display them on mobile devices.

WAP Gateway WAP Gateway is a translator of information originating from the server content for display on mobile devices and client otherwise. WAP Gateway has the following functions:
As the interface between the WAP protocol connecting with the internet protocol
As caches or proxy for the protocol header to strengthen the efficiency of data transfer
Caching content (proxy) for the overload of the application file server
Domain Name Server (DNS) client that will map the URL to the destination IP address
As a security gateway which do authentication client / user as a subscriber of a WAP service
For billing support on which the information of clients making payments via mobile-commerce
Content Server (WAP server)
Content Server is called a WAP Server and in the future referred to as Application Server after a variety of applications that support the developing WAP. WAP Server serves to provide a file of type WML and WML Script. This server can also run servlets programs that will add capabilities as a dynamic WAP applications, content. Programming language that can be used such as Java, PHP, ASP, Perl, CGI, etc.
